Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is an evidence-based approach that helps children build meaningful skills by using individualized, strength-based strategies. Our goal is to empower children in ways that feel natural and affirming, supporting communication, life skills, self-advocacy, and independence.
Every child is unique, and ABA therapy is designed to be highly individualized. If your child could benefit from additional support with communication, daily routines, flexibility, or self-advocacy, ABA might be a great fit. We offer consultations to discuss your child’s needs and determine how we can help.
We take a neurodivergent-affirming approach that respects and celebrates each child’s individuality. Our therapy is never about forcing conformity—it’s about providing tools that help children thrive in their own way. We prioritize collaboration with families, ensure therapy is engaging and meaningful, and provide no-waitlist access to services.
We provide in-home ABA therapy in Metro Detroit, allowing children to learn in the comfort of their own space. Therapy focuses on real-world application, so your child can practice and develop skills in the environments where they feel most at ease.
The assessment is a relaxed, play-based process where a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) observes your child, interviews caregivers, and uses standardized tools to understand their strengths and areas where support may be helpful. We also conduct a home safety assessment to ensure a safe and supportive learning space.
We know how important timely support is for families. That’s why we have no waitlist! Once the assessment is complete and insurance approval is received, therapy can begin as soon as possible.
We are currently empaneled with Aetna and are actively working on credentialing with additional private insurance providers as well as Medicaid. If you’re unsure about coverage, our team can assist with insurance verification and answer any questions.
Absolutely! Caregiver collaboration is a core part of our approach. We keep you informed about your child’s progress, offer guidance on reinforcing skills at home, and ensure therapy aligns with your family’s goals. We believe every child’s success is built on teamwork between our therapists, caregivers, and the child themselves.
We understand the concerns surrounding ABA’s history, and we believe therapy should always be affirming, ethical, and centered on each child’s well-being. At Growing Minds ABA Therapy, we reject any practices that promote compliance-based learning, masking, or discouraging a child’s natural way of being.
Our approach is:
Neurodivergent-Affirming – We celebrate each child for who they are and focus on empowerment, not conformity.
Compassionate & Collaborative – Therapy is built on trust, play, and meaningful connections, never force or rigidity.
Evidence-Based & Ethical – We follow the latest research to ensure therapy is supportive, strengths-based, and beneficial to each child’s long-term well-being.
Our goal is to provide children with tools to navigate their world confidently, while ensuring they feel safe, valued, and heard every step of the way.
